Wells Fargo Stagecoach, English and Western Riding Classes Highlight Peekskill Rotary’s 47th Annual Horse Show & Country Fair

The Rotary Club of Peekskill will host its 47th Annual Horse Show and Country Fair Sept. 23 and 24 at the Blue Mt. Reservation in Peekskill.

A Wells Fargo Stagecoach and team of four horses will offer rides out of the Old West while complementing western riding competition on Saturday.

Admission and parking are free and the show will go on, rain or shine. Competition and attractions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

This is the only show in Westchester County with both English and Western riding classes. There are 28 Western classes with eight championships on Saturday, and 28 English classes with eight championships on Sunday. Riders from stables throughout the tristate area participate in the show.

Fair attractions include pony and hay rides, a country fair and craft market, bounce and slide rides for the children, and a “Kountry Kitchen” offering home-baked goods, pumpkins, apples and mums. In the food tent, Rotarians serve up burgers, hot dogs, chicken, sausage and peppers, fries, beverages, ice cream and pretzels. Breakfast is available for early-arrivers.

The highly regarded Masonic Safety ID Program offered by Courtlandt Masonic Lodge #34 will be offered again this year. The program provides parents at no charge with a CD including a child’s photo and background data to help law enforcement agencies more quickly recover a missing child.

Peekskill Rotary President Chappy Manzer said, “We enjoy producing this show and are proud that it is recognized as one of the ‘must see’ family events in our community. We also are thankful for the hundreds of Rotarians who have worked so hard to make this event successful for the past 46 years.

“The horse show continues to be our club’s main fundraiser, with all proceeds donated back into the community and to meet international humanitarian needs.”

Blue Mt. Reservation is located on Welcher Ave. off Route 9.

The Rotary Club of Peekskill was chartered 98 years ago. The club has about 90 members representing a cross-section of the Peekskill and Cortlandt communities.

Payment is to be received when registering for social. $35 per painter.
To register & pay for a social, call The Hudson Creamery at (914) 293-7811, to pay over the phone must be done with a credit card. If you get the machine leave a message with your name and number and we will call you back to get you signed up, or stop in during regular creamery hours to pay in person.

Limited space is available per social, payment due upon registering.
No payment will be accepted at the door, we can't accept walk ins night of the social.

Arrive 15 min early to get checked in and pick your easel.
All painters must be 18 or older.
Artist takes you step by step to complete your painting.
Our space is for our painters only. Everyone needs a paid seat to stay on premises during all events.

We are BYOB (beer and wine ONLY). No outside food.
Dylan's Wine Cellar (across the street) will give a 20% discount on a purchase made the night of our socials.
We provide wine openers, ice, cups and the ICE CREAM!

Cancellation Policy for PUBLIC classes:
Store credit to be used for a future social only, will be given for cancellations received at least 48 hours in advance. "No shows" with no notification or less than 24 hour notice of cancellation will not be issued store credit. If you are late to the class you may not be allowed to paint and your payment will be forfeited. The Hudson Creamery reserves the right to cancel classes for unforeseen circumstances. Guests will be notified at least 24 hours prior to class time and store credit will be provided for a future social.

Westchester County has a long and storied history with the automobile dating back to the turn of the last century when in 1908 it first hosted the Briarcliff Grand Prix in which autos of the day traveled a 30 mile lap around the county ten times. It was said that over three hundred thousand spectators lined the route as people came out to see these new-fangled machines. It is in this spirit that Hudson Valley Car Week will commence with the inaugural running of the Peekskill Vintage Grand Prix. This automotive event will have vintage cars (1967 and older) traverse a 2 mile route that will take them through downtown Peekskill as well as along the beautiful waterfront showcasing the spectacular Hudson River.
